The
Community Y reserves the right to alter
or cancel classes.
Children are
not allowed in adult programs and are not
to be left wandering the facility while
parents participate in such programs. Children
less than 8 years of age are not allowed
in the facility unless they are attending
a class or are with parents in the facility.
Membership
& Admission Policy
Membership at the Community Y of Marshalltown
and admission to its facilities and programs
is a privilege, not a right.
The Community Y reserves the right to deny
membership, suspend or revoke the membership
of any person whose behavior, whether on
or off the Y premises, is judged by the
Executive Staff and Board of Directors either
to be in conflict with the welfare of the
Y patrons or staff, or in violation of the
Community Y mission, as expressed in the
mission statements found in the Y’s
seasonal brochures, on the Y’s website
and in the by-laws.
The Community Y will have a written procedure
for notice and hearing of suspension or
revocation of membership, and a method of
appeal of that determination to the Y’s
Board of Directors. The Community Y’s
Executive Director is responsible for implementation
of this policy.
Behavior
Policy
It is the belief of the Community Y of Marshalltown
Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and
members, that the atmosphere in the building
and on the grounds will be conducive to
the enhancement and development of all people.
To achieve this,
the following are unacceptable:
1. Disrespect of others, the facility or
equipment
2. Derogatory remarks or actions about race,
creed, gender or appearance
3. Destruction of the building or any Y
property
4. Physical contact other than holding hands
5. Swearing
6. Fighting
7. Smoking on Y property
8. Use of drugs or alcohol on Y property
9. Clothing that portrays graphic violence/language
10. Activity or behavior that which could
be interpreted by staff as having gang affiliation
11. Clothing/headgear found to be offensive
12. Other behaviors deemed inappropriate
Any violation
of the above mentioned may result in termination
of membership rights, parental and police
notification. Other consequences as a result
of the above mentioned actions will be determined
by the Community Y staff.
Weapons
Any object which could be used to injure
another person brought on Y property and
which has no related purpose for being on
the grounds or in the building (including,
but not limited to knives, guns, pipes,
chains, nunchucks, throwing stars, explosives)
will result in immediate expulsion from
the Y, termination of membership, with the
authorities called.
THE COMMUNITY
Y ADHERES TO A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY REGARDING
WEAPONS AND VIOLENCE.
The Community
Y Executive Director reserves the right
to terminate a membership at any time based
on inappropriate behavior.
For safety reasons,
the Y reserves the right to search all lockers,
including those that are padlocked.
Accomodating
Special Needs
A first floor dressing room, complete
with toilet facilities and a shower, is
available off the pool for parents with
children of opposite sex under the age of
8 (i.e. fathers bringing young daughters
to swim programs, etc.) This dressing room
is also available to physically challenged
persons and persons with special needs.

An elevator is also available for
persons needing such assistance.
