Bryce Edens and Emily Manis

Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA Blue Wave Swim Team announces All-Star Candidates for 2017!

Every year, the Iowa YMCA Competitive Swim Teams may nominate one male and one female to the All-Star Team.  Candidates should be committed to YOUTH DEVELOPMENT – positive role model, HEALTHY LIVING – taking an active role in a lifelong sport and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – giving back and supporting others in their community. They should show dedication to YMCA swimming and great sportsmanship to all those around them. All-Stars will be recognized at the YMCA State Meet, March 4th & 5th.

Bryce Edens

Person(s) Nominating: Shelley Lechnir, Patti Herrera, Matt Jennings, Becca Elliott, Crystal Prusha, Emily Vest Bri Simpson and Grant Knotts

Bryce is just a swimming machine! He is one of those swimmers that you dream about as a coach: always excited to be at practice, never complaining about a set, no matter how hard it may be.  He demonstrates the work ethic of athletes twice his age.  His dedication motivates him into the water on days when there is no practice.  In just two seasons Bryce has really taken to the sport. In his own words, " It's just fun!" He qualified for state in his first season! His favorite event is the 500!  "I can't help it, I like distance," according to Bryce.

Emily Manis

Our little "Demon!"  This young lady is anything but! She is an incredible individual who possesses a genuine warmth and caring for the people around her.  Emily has been involved with the Y aquatic programs for most of her life. Emily is in her 8th season with the Blue Wave Swim Team and she loves the bonds and friendships she has made with the other swimmers and her coaches! While competing in her favorite events, the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke, Emily has qualified for the State meet six times and the Regional meet four times.
