Blue Wave Swim Team

The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA Blue Wave Swim Team earned 2nd place overall in Division 3 with 633 points!  More highlights below:  

Medley relay team of Sam Greazel, Charlie Gilbertson, Nick Wise and Lincoln Barker broke a Blue Wave team record set back in 1989 with a time of 1:51.83.  They also won state in the 13-14 boys 200 medley relay.

200 Free relay team of Sam Greazel, Charlie Gilbertson, Kaden Case and Lincoln Barker who broke a Blue Wave team record set back in 1983 with a time of 1:39.60. They earned a 2nd place finish at the state meet, missing the gold medal by just .15 seconds. 

STATE CHAMPION: Beckham DeSotel, 11-12, 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.54

STATE CHAMPION: Averie Wittkop, 13-14, 100  backstroke with a time of 1:02.29 also breaking a Blue Wave team record

  • Out of 60 swims this weekend 44 of them were lifetime best swims.
  • 8 individual  Blue Wave records were broken
  • 2 Blue Wave relay records (see above)
  • 25 top-10 finishes
  • 34 top-5 finishes
    • 1st-place (3)  13-14 boys medley relay, Beckham DeSotel and Averie Wittkop in the 100 back

      •  13-14 boy free relay (Lincoln Barker, Kaden Case, Sam Greazel, Charlie Gilbertson
    • 3rd place (4)

HUGE thanks to all of the volunteers who made this event possible.  It took 27 officials, 102 timers and 145 local volunteers to make this meet a success!
