Floor Monitor

The Marshalltown Y is seeking a dependable team player that will maintain a close and highly responsive relationships to the day-to day activities of the Y on evenings and weekends.  The Floor Monitor is responsible for ensuring that the building is kept clean and rules are maintained throughout a 3-4 hour shift 2-3 days a week (4-7 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.) and weekends.  For more information, contact Nicki Reynolds at

The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA is now accepting applications for lifeguards. Qualified applicants need to possess current Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, AED, CPR-Pro, and First Aid. Will pay for training.  Lifeguard pay varies with experience.  Applications are available online or at the Service Desk.

Gym Monitor

Responsible for engaging members and ensuring the building and grounds policies and rules are maintained. Directly supervise the operations in the gym, racquetball courts and adult locker rooms run smoothly.  Specifically this position is responsible for maintaining discipline and control of youth and adult behavior at the Y.  The gym supervisor will maintain a close and highly responsive relationship to the day-to-day activities of the Y.

Group Exercise Instructor

Leverage your passion for fitness to be an integral part of improving the health and well-being of our community.  Group exercise at the Y provides exercise classes to persons of a variety of ages and ability levels at various times of day throughout the week and weekend.  Currently accepting all group exercise applications.  Please contact Keisha Lockhart at or 641752.8658 for more information.

Positions Needed:

-Enhance®Fitness Instructor

Do you enjoy working with active older adults? Enhance®Fitness is an evidence-based group exercise and falls prevention program to help older adults at all levels of fitness become more active. Instructors are responsible for conducting a safe and fun class according to the Enhance®Fitness programming—Enhance®Fitness program training is provided. Basic group exercise knowledge or certification is encouraged, but not required.  Current needs are for a Monday 10:15-11:15am instructor.

-Yoga Instructor

Yoga instructors are responsible for providing a balanced yoga practice for participants of all levels and abilities, including providing appropriate progressions and regressions, and breathing principles. Extensive personal yoga experience, or Yoga certification is required. Current needs are for an instructor with evening or flexible availability.

-Fitness Floor Staff

Combine your passion of helping others with your passion for healthy living. Fitness Floor staff are responsible for providing equipment orientations and basic support to members, developing relationships with members, monitoring the fitness areas, and light cleaning/tidying duties. Basic knowledge of utilizing fitness equipment is encouraged, but not required. Aquatics Instructor

Must be certified in CPR, AED and First Aid.  Certification may be acquired after hire.  Must have prior experience.

Positions Needed: 
-Swim Lesson Instructor

Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.  Instructs in beginning to advanced swimming and safety skills according to age group and class swim level. Provides a quality experience to students and parents.  Represents the Y and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.

-Water Exercise Instructor
Responsible for conducting water fitness classes. Provides a quality experience to participants.  Represents the Y and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.

Day Camp / Fit Kids Staff

Directly responsible to the Fit Kids/Day Camp Coordinator.

With guidance from the Fit Kids/Day Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for the supervision and engagement of Fit Kid/Day Camp participants and parents.

Minimum age requirement is 16 for Fit Kids program and 17 for Summer Day Camp.

Preschool Staff

Y Preschool is hiring part-time staff for the fall of 2022.  Preschool staff is responsible for planning and implementing a program to teach young children.  The staff must provide a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
